Pica Taco's Story:

"I like to ask people, 'Tell me what you feel like having', then I can fix them what they want!"

This personalized service and delicious, authentic Mexican food is what sets Pica Taco and its owner, Maria Villalta, apart from the rest. She recognizes her regulars before they walk through the door, and starts preparing their favorite order.

Maria loves getting to know her loyal restaurant customers at both Washington, DC locations. She spends much of her time between the original, cozy Adams Morgan restaurant, opened in February 2009 (1629 Columbia Rd. NW), and the bigger, friendly U Street Corridor location, opened in April 2010 (1406 Florida Ave. NW), which helps to accommodate more hungry Pica Taco patrons!

Serving authentic Mexican food is Maria's passion. Learning tricks by working alongside her mother, she expanded her skills into the restaurant business as the able owner of the well-loved Margarita's Restaurant in Glover Park.

After 20 years at the full-service restaurant, Maria opted to try something new – and Pica Taco was born! She loves the smaller and more personal atmosphere, and the sense of community she strives to provide to her customers.
